Volunteers
I can always use some extra hands in the classroom. Copying, filing, labeling, organizing, reading to the class, listening to readers, are just a few of the jobs that parents volunteer to help with. Please let me know if you can come to our room to help with a project or you can take a project home to complete. Principal Miller will have a volunteer training program later in the year to familiarize you with the office machines like the copier and other important information about confidentiality. Thank you in advance for all you do!
P.S. Are you really artistic? Do you have great tech talents? Would you like to use your creative talents to add to our classroom learning? Please let me know. I have so many ideas but need more hands and more time. We could be a GREAT team!

Reading is sooooo important to everything we do at school. Students should read an average of 10 minutes a night for every year of school. So, third grade students should read approx. 30 min. every evening. Students will receive a "weekly at-home reading" page every Monday. This homework is one page for the students to read to/with their parents. There will be a comprehension focus strategy to aide with the reading. The student and parent should both sign the paper and students should return the work to school by Friday. (Occasionally at-home reading will be sent home on a Tuesday when school is not in session on Monday. If school is not in session on Friday, homework will be due on the next Monday.)
