Students used M&M's to make fractional sets.  Ask your child about numerators, denominators, parts of a whole and parts of a set.  
Students also used our big classroom carpet to find exact locations on a grid.  Students can locate an exact point using ordered pairs to communicate.  
We finished our book called Stone Fox by John Reynolds Gardner.  Ask your child about it and how it compares to the movie.

Read-a-thon 2013 is over.  We met and surpassed our goal of $4,000.  Today was the bounce house celebration.  Friday, during the tiger pride assembly, individual awards and prizes as well as the class trophies will be awarded.  Hope to see you then!

Quick FYI:  Grade reports were sent home with students today.  Please sign and return the back page sometime this week.  Individual spring pictures were sent home yesterday.  If you do not want to purchase the photos, please return them to school.  If you wish to purchase, then keep the photos you want and send the money in for those.  Return the photos that you do not want to purchase.  Class photographs were given to students today.  These are FREE!  Enjoy! :)

This is just a quick update to let you know of all that will take place this week.


Tuesday: Last day to log reading minutes for read-a-thon, Class picture day and individual spring pictures ( a few notes have been sent home about this)  All students will be photographed for the class picture and individual pictures.  You will have the opportunity to look at the pictures and then decide if you wish to purchase them.  
Family Literacy Night; (6:00 - 8:00 pm) There are many events planned; Backyard Burgers, Book Fair, Bike Raffle,  Grade level activities, Classroom displays, H.S. Basketball Team, and more...


Wednesday: Principal's Day!  This is our opportunity to thank Principal Miller for all she does for our school. Student council meeting after school (members should wear their stu co t-shirts), Book Fair and our library day, turn in reading minutes from read-a-thon


Thursday: Absolute last day to turn in reading minutes for the read-a-thon (individual student goal is 600 minutes) Reading minutes need to be signed by a parent/guardian,  Book Fair, Money Due for Read-a-thon


Friday: Spelling Test #26, costume for community service (dress like your favorite book character), early dismissal at 12:40, Spring Break Starts and school will resume on Monday, March 18! Money Due for Read-a-thon, Last Day of Book Fair
